hempcrete blocks for sale

Cannabric (Hemp-Clay Bricks)

Cannabric is a massive hemp-clay brick, for load-bearing applications and non load-bearing applications in green-building, weather resistant during construction.

Our bricks and pieces: greenbuilding + restoration:

  • CANNABRIC, hempbrick (insulating + loadbearing)
  • CANNABRIC, thin bricks
  • BTC, compressed earth block

Cannabric is manufactured in three measurements: 30 x 14,5 x 10,5 [cm] (full brick), 14,5 x 14,5 x 10,5 [cm] (half brick), 21,5 x 14,5 x 10,5 [cm] (three-quarter brick). The supply, depending upon size, is in pallets of 195/252/390 pieces. Thinner three quarter bricks (6,5 cm) can be manufactured on demand.

BTC Compressed Earth Block is manufactured in three measurements: 29 x 14 x 10 [cm] (full brick), 14 x 14 x 10 [cm] (half brick), 21 x 14 x 10 [cm] (three-quarter brick). The supply, depending upon size, is in pallets of 130/260/168 pieces. Thinner three quarter bricks (7 cm) can be manufactured on demand.

Description

Cannabric is a building brick or block with negative carbon footprint, manufactured from hemp hurds, recycled clays and natural binders, obtained from the restoration of traditional cave dwellings near the factory. It is applied since 1999 in load-bearing walls of 1-3 floor buildings.

Its mechanical strength is within the range of adobe bricks, used for load-bearing applications since 8000 years up till present. In seismic areas combined systems may be recommended, depending on local conditions and the shape of the building. Cannabric walls also find application in inside divisions and annexed walls, e.g. to raise the comfort of the stone walls of an old building.

With a phase change of 12 hours, a load-bearing or external Cannabric wall equilibrates the temperatures and takes care for stable comfort. The brick combines a low thermal conductivity (0,1875 W/m·K) with a high specific thermal capacity (1303 kJ/m3·K), possessing therefore dynamic thermal properties apt for Mediterranean climate conditions and also those with great day/night differences (semiarid areas, desert areas). It is also recommended for tropical climates as its humidity regulating capacities are elevated, not only through the porous structure of hemp particles but also through the raw clay used for binding.

Cannabric is a massive hemp-clay brick, sized 29x14x10.5 cm for load-bearing applications (54 bricks/m2) and non load-bearing applications (27 bricks/m2).

Hempcrete Blocks

Hempcrete Blocks

Natural Building Blocks

A non-structural block of Hemp and Lime, Hempcrete blocks are primarily used as external wall insulation in timber framed buildings. They can be used in conjunction with any type of timber frame where they provide the insulation, the backing for plasters internally and the backing for renders externally.

They are particularly useful where exposing feature timber frames such as oak or glu-lam where they cloak the frame in a tea-cosy of insulation. The blocks and frame do not come into contact, instead the blocks are secured up to 25mm off the frame with stainless steel wall ties, the entire frame therefore is exposed internally and no cutting of blocks is required resulting in quick build times.

Hempcrete blocks are lightweight and laid in thin bed lime mortar making them easy and quick to lay.

Uses:

Insulating historic buildings

Internal or external solid wall insulation

Low embodied energy
