Time for Timer

Time for Timer was the collective title of a series of nutrition- and fitness-related public service announcements that aired on ABC’s Saturday morning programming block from 1973 through 1998. These animated 30-second and one-minute shorts were named for the main character: a yellow, microscopic-sized blob who wore a bow tie and top hat with long arms and legs. He was said to represent the body’s “biological clock,” in charge of when it was time to do things such as eat and sleep. The shorts were produced by DePatie-Freleng Enterprises.

The Time for Timer segments were much in the vein of ABC’s other public service announcements on childhood health, including but not limited to The Bod Squad.

In “Petarded”, a gag features Timer reprising a segment called “Hanker for a Hunk of Cheese”, wherein Timer performs and dances around his apartment, until he is interrupted by a knock on the door. Peter Griffin, clad in a bathrobe, expresses his annoyance at Timer’s behavior and tells him that it is 3:30 a.m., to which Timer replies cheerfully, “I just smoked a whole bunch of crack!”.

Timer’s voice was originally recorded for Family Guy by original actor, Lennie Weinrib. Creator Seth MacFarlane, on the Season 4 DVD commentary, explained he wanted to hire Weinrib to voice Timer for the gag, but Weinrib was suffering from failing health when “Petarded” was being produced, and as MacFarlane explained, he “didn’t remember doing it” after the recorded audio was played back for him later. In the end, Timer was voiced by Seth himself and Weinrib died about a year after “Petarded” first aired.

Seth MacFarlane and I obsess over Cream Cheese, Family Guy, and Beyoncé at the Primetime Emmy Awards

Jacqueline MacInnes Wood from The Bold and the Beautiful won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series! (Daytime Emmys) Here we are smiling for this photo her husband snapped

Just to be clear about the title of this blog entry, I eat vegan cream cheese. Ellen DeGeneres inspired me to be vegan years ago so I had to mention that! After having so much fun talking to Seth MacFarlane, I spoke with The Ellen DeGeneres Show staff before they won their Daytime Emmy Award! Conversations you didn’t see in the video were with Ed Glavin ( her executive producer), Actress and Singer Zendaya as we bonded over owning the same pair of pants, and Ellen’s gardener, Bill!

I didn’t want to make the video too long, so these are highlights, but I will totally do a story time type of video in more detail of celebrities I’ve have encounters with if you leave a comment down below letting me know. I love how this video turned out!

“Who’s that girl? Eve’s that girl!”

Don’t be shy to chat with me. Maybe I’ll do a premiere post on youtube if I set a scheduled time/day each week to post. Any suggestions of when is generally good for you? (Please mention what country or state you live in for time difference reference). Thanks!

These kind of glamourous events that happen annually are such a blast and I love sharing with you!

I want to personally thank Amelia Rae and her sister Juliet for letting me use their single ‘Matcha Latte’ as my new channel theme song! Yay! I finally have an intro.
